A New Film by Hackney Photographer Tom Hunter

Renowned Hackney based photographer Tom Hunter has worked with residents of the Woodberry Down Estate, the site of a major regeneration project to create a film called
A Palace for Us. It includes interviews, archival imagery and scenes re-creating life on the Estate throughout it’s entire history. The film focuses on social housing in London while Hunter believes that today, social housing and socialism is coming to an end.
Hunter says that he’s dealing with ‘propaganda’ as well in this film as although he accepts there are a lot of problems with these estates, he wants to look at the good side of it, as they were ‘amazing places when they started off’.

‘Co-commissioned by Age Concern, this film is part of the Serpentine Gallery’s Skills Exchange Project, where artists, designers and architects work in collaboration with older people, care workers, young people and activists to develop ideas for social and architectural change’ Serpentine Gallery.

On until 20th January so hurry to the Serpentine Gallery and don’t miss it !
